Greetings, I'm Tutor Jenie. Thank you for visiting my page and getting to know a little about me.

I'm a Native English Speaker from the United States; Long Island, NY. I enjoy singing, reading, exercising, eating healthy and traveling.

I have 6 years of teaching experience, which includes 2 years of classroom experience teaching ESL to Middle and High school students, 2 years of classroom experience teaching English and 2 years of online experience teaching children and adults from different parts of the world.

I have a TEFL certification and a Bachelors and Master's degree in Psychology.

My teaching/tutor style is to adapt my lessons to fit each student's learning levels and to make learning fun and engaging by incorporating student's interests and culture. I'm patient and outgoing, so in my tutor sessions, you will feel relaxed and have fun to help you reach your learning goals whether you want to improve in Conversational English, Vocabulary, Spelling and Grammar or Pronunciation.

TUTOR ME EDUCATION
Teach and tutor students from Montgomery County school district in Maryland online. Utilize the Lessonspace and Zoom platforms to conduct lessons for Elementary and Middle school students in English, Math, Grammar, Spelling, Science and Social Studies. Incorporate student’s interest, such as music, culture, art, and sports to engage them and make learning fun. Use various educational resources to help students with test preparation, developing better study habits and increasing spelling, vocabulary and reading comprehension levels.

MAY 2021 – CURRENT
TUTOR/U&I HAWAII
Tutor and instruct adults ESL students. Compose lesson plans designed for online learning for students who are
at the beginner, intermediate and advance level in English. Instruct ESL students in general and business English.
MARCH 2021 – CURRENT
TUTOR/TEACHER, PREPLY, INC.
Teach and tutor adults and youth in English. Instruct students with prepared Preply lessons in pronunciation,
grammar, sentence structure and everyday conversation. Assign, review and correct homework. Set guidelines for
students to help them reach their learning goals. Structure lessons to meet individual needs of students.

FIELD INTERVIEWER, UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN
Worked on study focusing on child/youth cognition, health and behaviors. Conducted face to face interviews,
including assessments with parents and children/youth ranging in age of 4-17 years old throughout Los Angeles,
Orange and Riverside counties. Conducted phone interviews with selected study participants represented
throughout the United States. Was successful in establishing good rapport, which resulted in high participation
rates. Obtained good quality control evaluations.
FEBRUARY 2019 – DECEMBER 2019
FIELD INTERVIEWER, UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN
Worked from home and interviewed selected participants throughout U.S. in CAPI (Computer Assisted Personal
Interviewing) for longitudinal family study for social science research project. Was successful in establishing good rapport, which resulted in high participation rates. Obtained good quality control evaluations.

SUBSTITUTE TEACHER, BLADEN COUNTY SCHOOLS
Instructed classroom in regular Teacher’s absence in Elementary, Middle and High schools throughout Bladen
county, NC. Made use of absent Teacher’s prepared lesson plans; making modifications when necessary to meet the student’s needs. Successfully utilized skills to manage classroom to redirect challenging behaviors of students.

APRIL 2014-APRIL 2016

Instructed classroom in regular Teacher’s absence in Elementary schools. Worked a Long-term Assignment at CHEC (Columbia Heights Education Campus/combined Middle and High school) instructing ESL students. Made use of absent Teacher’s prepared lesson plans; making modifications when necessary to meet the student’s needs. Created lesson plans for Long-term assignments, graded papers and gave homework assignments. Supervised students on field trips. Successfully utilized classroom management skills to redirect challenging behaviors of students.
