My name is Thomas, and this is my first year serving as an English tutor. Even if this is my first year, I do have some experience in the field: as an honor society member, one of the jobs I was regularly tasked with at school was tutoring underclassmen.

I switch up my style and content depending on the student, especially if they're aiming for a specific end goal with their skills (e.g. business level). I do not conduct lessons in a traditional lecture and recitation style; as a university student myself, I know how daunting and boring that can seem. I prefer to have a hands-on approach with clients that really focuses more on the application of English-speaking skills. Learning a new language by myself, I understand how frustrating it can be, and therefore, I encourage clients to make mistakes because it is proof that the client is trying and learning. Learning a new language myself, you only really learn by putting yourself out there. More than trying to get students to really put themselves out there, I enjoy using a more hands-on approach to English tutoring because I also genuinely enjoy getting to know new people. More than be a tutor, I want to serve as a trusted acquaintance to all potential students.
