Hi, my name is Vicki and I come from New Zealand but I have been living in Germany for the last seven years. I am a CELTA-qualified ESL teacher and I have an academic background. As a CELTA-trained teacher, I strive to guide students to the answers rather than simply giving them to them. Research has shown that the more opportunities students have to practice the language, the better they retain it. I also adapt lessons as much as possible to the needs and interests of the student. I strongly believe that lessons should be fun and that students should feel safe to try out the language in the safety of the classroom. As a language learner myself (German), I know how important it is to feel safe to make mistakes and to experiment with the language. I am a very positive and friendly teacher.

In 2022 I completed CELTA which is the ESL teaching course administered by Cambridge University. I achieved the grade of Pass B which is considered a very good result (only about 25 % of CELTA participants achieve a grade higher than a pass). Since then, I have been working as an online ESL tutor. I have taught all ages and all levels of English. I have also taught people from all over the world. I highly enjoy learning about other cultures and I am a very approachable and friendly person.

In 2020 I completed a Ph.D. in Social and Political Thought. Through undertaking my Ph.D., I developed my understanding and usage of the English language to a very advanced level. I have experience teaching academic and business English as well.
